Bradley Stoke U13 (3) v Fry Cub Colts U13 (6)
September 11, 2005
Fry’s
came from their narrow home defeat last week with a determined and confident
attitude. The first half started off with the play all one way as Fry’s
constantly attacked
the
Bradley Stoke goal.
Their
reward for all their hard work paid off in the 14th minute when Ryan
Ellett fired a low shot across the goal which rebounded in off of the far post.
Persistence
paid off again after 22 minutes when Harry Pople
collected a through ball from Justin Skinner to fire the ball across goal from
the right, which ricochet off both posts before
going
in.
The
26th minute brought a corner for Fry’s. Justin Sinner put in an
excellent cross which was met by the rising Myles Jefferies to head into the
Bradley Stoke net giving their keeper no chance.
Bradley
Stoke started to find their form and made some quick breakaways which needed the
ever
aware Jack Baber, in the Fry’s goal, to come off his line numerous times to
clear the ball.
To
finish off the first half Fry’s scored their 4th when Ryan Davis connected
on the edge of the box with a poorly cleared ball from the Bradley Stoke
defence to rifle a shot past the keeper.
The
second half started with Bradley Stoke making the most of their chances. They
won a corner within 5 minutes which resulted in a goal, bringing the score back
to 4-1.
Jack
Baber, the Fry’s keeper was injured in a 50-50 ball with the advancing Bradley
Stoke striker and was replaced between the posts by Tom Rose.
The
Fry’s defence of Stone, Hooper, Sheehan and Jefferie’s were strong as Bradley Stoke
seemed to step up a gear.
In
the 50th minute the ball bounced off the bar from a fierce Jack
Baber shot (who had come back on in an outfield position) to be met by Dan
Buleys shot which deflected off a defender
into
the roof of the net.
Bradley
Stoke didn’t stop and won a free kick on the edge of the Frys area and duly
brought the score back to 5-2 with a well taken set piece finding its way under
the Frys bar.
The
score became 6-2 after a curling corner kick from Jack Baber found its way into
the Bradley Stoke net off the outstretched keeper’s gloves.
Bradley
Stoke netted a third in the 69th minute with a long drive from their
battling striker.
The
final whistle come with the score at 6-3
A
well played game with Fry’s keeping their shape for most of the game, passing
the ball confidently, and converting most of their scoring chances.
